Best IoT Conferences 2021 – 2022

"Best In Category" Series

Privileged Access Management

IoT can only be successful (or work successfully) within safe environments without breaches or exploitation. IoT security can be therefore described as being the technology in safeguarding the multitude of connected devices and networks within the internet of things (IoT). I hope that my suggested list of IoT conferences goes some way to helping you learn more about this subject matter.

This is my current recommended IoT conference list to attend. However, I shall be adding to this list as the year rolls out and notable IoT events are submitted to our directory.

About This List

As the year progresses, we will add more recommended activities for the next year; usually, this is determined by conferences submitted to our directory.

If you work in this vital area, I highly urge you to attend these events. You must attend any of these activities.

Conference Summary

IoT Evolution is without a doubt one of the greatest and largest IoT Conferences of the year. This conference is really three events in one: Intelligence Edge, Industrial IoT, and Smart City, which is why we classified it as a SCADA/ICS case as well. This is one of the best IoT events in 2021, with three days of materials, and we sincerely hope that COVID will be a distant memory (fingers crossed).

Conference Summary

The Internet of Things (IoT) is a platform that enables a network of devices (sensors, smart meters, and so on) to work together to communicate, analyze data, and process information in the service of individuals or organizations. The Internet of Things (IoT) network can produce vast volumes of data in a variety of formats and protocols that can be stored and processed in the cloud. The conference will focus on issues surrounding IoT devices, their interconnectedness, and the services they can provide, such as reliable, accurate, and safe data analysis using machine learning and other advanced techniques, models, and resources, as well as protection, privacy, and trust concerns.

IEEE Percom Workshop on Security, Privacy, and Trust in the Internet of Things (SPT-IoT)

Conference Summary

The Internet of Things (IoT) is a modern design concept imagined as a network of billions or trillions of “Things” interacting with one another, and it’s attracting a lot of interest from academia, business, and government around the world. Pervasive computing is at the core of the Internet of Things and is a critical building block for its realization.

IoT has the potential to provide creative solutions to global problems such as ageing populations, rising healthcare costs, climate change, and biosecurity by combining ubiquitous technologies such as RFID and smart dust with tiny sensors, actuators, and machine-to-machine (M2M) communication technologies.

GovWare Focus Series 2020
October 7th, 2020
Singapore

• Past Review •

Singapore has a lot of Cybersecurity Conferences when compared to the rest of the APAC region.

Govware, according to the organizers is (in 2020) a “virtual event that will explore the critical development in both defense and threats within the cybersecurity landscape.”

Importantly, however, from an IoT conference perspective, we note that they requested speakers with a focus on the following:

  • Cybersecurity and Digital Transformation
  • Cybersecurity in the Cloud
  • Industrial Controls Systems (ICS): Vulnerabilities & Resiliency
  • Distributed Security in IoT Environments
  • Proactive Cyber Defence
  • Enabling Resiliency in Cyberspace

So, as stated above, Govware does has an IoT element to it so if this is an industry you work in then we’d recommend that you discover more about their conference next year.

Industrial Internet of Things USA

We list quite a few tech events and conferences from Qatalyst Global and this one jumps-out as, of course, having IoT content.

Participating in any event like this would benefit you by providing an opportunity to discover real-life case studies of active IIoT projects, and of course, you’ll be able to network with like-minded peers in the industry.

There is obviously a merger between SCADA and ICS with IoT so if these are technologies and industries that you work in or with then obviously you should pay attention to upcoming Qatalyst events.

Cyber Access Summit 2020
November 9th, 2020
Germany

• Past Review •

I’ve added this event in Berlin Germany by Kupperingcole for two reasons:

  • The folks at Kupperingcole organize excellent virtual security events;
  • This particular event focuses on the IAM (Identity Access Management) space which is closely entwined with IoT.

The Kupperingcole team are noted (and I can vouch for them) for providing inspiring lectures and solutions from every Cybersecurity niche that they cover.

As a conference organizer (and security consultancy) Kupperingcole is an organization to keep an eye on.

ACM SIGSAC 15th Workshop on Programming Languages and Analysis for Security (PLAS)
November 13th, 2020
United States

• Past Review •

We need languages to interact with IoT.

We also need computer languages to be pioneering and safe so hence the inclusion of this event.

ACM SIGSAC provides a forum for discussing and evaluating the utilization of programing languages.

The overriding purpose of this workshop is to provide new ideas and techniques to help promote security within programable languages, so if that’s your niche: go check it out!

CyberTech Africa

Rwanda

• Past Review •

CYBERTECH events are designed, amongst other things, to enable you to expand your B2B network.

There are a bunch of CYBERTECH events around the world, but the key thing to note is that this event, in Rwanda, has IoT as designated subject-matter.

So, if you’re in Africa then be sure to keep an eye open for CYBERTECH Events.

No Hat Computer Security Conference
November 28th, 2020
Italy

• Past Review •

Nohat hacker conference, organized annually by Berghem-in-the-Middle, is one of Italy’s “best hacker conferences” of the year.

This event brings together experts from various fields to discuss computer privacy and security and the main thing for the relevancy of this IoT Conferences roundup is that the organizers state that IoT is an area they cover.

Highly recommended, go learn more especially if you’re an InfoSec Professional working in the DACH or Central European region.

Customer Technology World 2020
October 20th, 2020
Netherlands

• Past Review •

IoT is aimed at consumers (for the most part) so clearly I should list an event aimed at the end user.

According to the organizers, you’ll “gain knowledge on how to create a digital business strategy by participating in this event”.

T2.FI Infosec
October 29th, 2020
Finland

• Past Review •

T2.FI is one of the more interesting Cybersecurity Conferences we list in our directory. The organizers place a huge amount of effort into their iconic event in Helsinki.

I believe that 2020 was cancelled due to our common foe, COVID.

The reason I’d suggest to check out T2.FI is that they have a tendency to list AI and ML talks such as this one: Hacking Machine Learning. It’s therefore inevitable that they’ll also cover IoT.

Furthermore, when creating these lists I like to spread the love to other countries’ events and tech conferences.
