Essensium is a high tech spinoff from the IMEC research center, located in Leuven, Belgium. Essensium has 2 main business units: Mind BU which focuses on providing embedded Linux software development services, and the EPS (Essensium Positioning System) Business Unit which offers solutions for indoor/outdoor real-time location tracking. The EPS Business Unit The main innovative character of their (patented) Real-Time Location System (RTLS) technology lies in its combination of high positional accuracy (±30cm) with a long operational range (≥500m). In essence, the technology combines the benefits of UWB RTLS (accuracy) and Wi-Fi RTLS (operational range). Additionally, the technology’s resilience towards multipath and reflections make it very suitable for deployment in harsh industrial environments (warehouses, container terminals, manufacturing lines, smart factories…). The EPS system operates in the 2.4GHz ISM-band and co-exists with Wi-Fi/Bluetooth/Zigbee. Based on this core technology Essensium has developed several system solutions that target forklift safety solutions, smart logistics solutions, etc. Mind Business Unit Mind is Essensium’s embedded software division, which offers Consultancy and Services in the field of Linux and Open Source software for Embedded Systems. The mind is one of the main players specialized in technical consulting, toolchain development, low-level, firmware, and application development, training, and support for Linux and Open Source software on the Benelux market.
