The 1st International Summer School on Security & Privacy for Blockchains and Distributed Ledger Technologies is jointly organized by members of Princeton University, TU Wien (Vienna University of Technology), and SBA Research. In its first edition, it will be hosted by TU Wien in Vienna, Austria from September 2, 2019 to September 5, 2019.
The summer school will be organized in hackathons and lectures, providing a mix of in-depth hands-on experience and research presentations, and it will focus on current high-impact and published research projects. The school covers state-of-the-art topics on blockchains and other distributed ledger technologies to foster understanding of their respective privacy and security specific requirements by bringing together academic researchers and professionals from the industry. Example topics include, but are not limited to: novel attacks on distributed systems; consensus protocols and fault tolerance; incentive structures, such as proof-of-work and proof-of-stake; payment channels; recent results on blockchain scalability, and state channels; advancements on smart contracts; or, realistic adversarial capabilities.
Students will have the chance to network with professionals from the industry, academia, sponsors, and among each other. They will also have the opportunity to present their own results in front of experts from academia and industry in the form of lightning talks and poster presentations.
