USENIX is an organization set up 38 years ago (!) to support research and advancements within the Operating System space. It was founded under the name “Unix Users Group,” focusing primarily on the study and development of Unix (linux) and similar systems. We like to list these events because security is always going to be baked into Operating Systems.

Enigma, organized by USENIX is a unique event that centers on a single track of engaging discussions that cover a wide range of topics in the security and privacy area. The main goal of the conference is to clearly explain the defenses and emerging threats in the growing intersection of society, technology, and to foster an informed and intelligent conversation within the community and the world. They view diversity as a key enabler for this goal and actively work to ensure that the Enigma community welcomes and encourages participation from all racial and ethnic backgrounds, employment sectors, nationalities, and genders.
Enigma has the aim of fostering a respectful, open, and collaborative environment. Enigma and USENIX are also dedicated to open conversations and open science and all talk media are available to the public after the event.
The program co-chairs for the 2020 conference will be Ben Adida, VotingWorks and Daniela Oliveira from the University of Florida.
