Cyber thieves operate beyond national lines, wreaking havoc and posing a genuine threat – virtually anybody may be a victim of a cyber assault. Cybercriminals are getting more and more nimble, and they are taking use of emerging technology to further their goals. When hospitals or city governments are hacked, the consequences are severe, and huge ransom payments are typical.
Conference Event Summary
The following description was either submitted by the Conference Organizer on Sunday, October 10th 2021, or created by us.
Ransomware, malware, “cybercrime as a service”, botnets, cryptojacking, darknet – criminals are using new technologies to carry out cyber attacks against individuals, businesses, or even governments. The criminals act across borders, they cause serious damage and represent a real threat – almost anyone can become a victim of a cyber attack. Cybercriminals are becoming more and more agile and are using new technologies for their own purposes. The damage is immense when hospitals or city administrations are hacked – it is not uncommon for large sums of ransom to be paid.
IT experts warn that digitization accelerated by the pandemic offers cybercriminals new opportunities for attack. In fact, the number of attacks has increased enormously. According to the European Cybersecurity Agency ENISA, the number of phishing emails alone, with which fraudsters obtain sensitive data or infiltrate malware into users, rose by 600 percent during the Corona crisis. The size of a company plays a subordinate role here – it affects large as well as small and medium-sized companies.
How can companies guarantee the security of their IT systems? How can you sensitize your employees to security-related issues? What options do the official German institutions have and how well is Germany positioned in terms of cybersecurity in an international comparison?
For the fourth time, Convent, in cooperation with Zeitverlag, invites you to the annual cybersecurity conference. In the course of the ever-increasing professionalization of cybercrime, protection against cyber attacks is in focus worldwide. The annual cybersecurity conference offers an excellent forum with helpful answers to outline the immensely high damage potential for business, politics, and science, to name the risk scenarios, and to identify solutions.
Around 350 high-ranking IT and data experts as well as security officers from corporations and large medium-sized companies, political institutions and scientific institutions discuss with representatives of the hacker scene whether and how cybercrime can be brought under control and shed light on the darkness what powers are behind the cyberattacks.
