They resent being engineered out of the design process. They also thrive on figuring out how things work and piecing together disparate technologies into something new and making it their own.

8th Annual National Cyber Security Summit

Cyber Security Event Title: 8th Annual National Cyber Security Summit Address: South Hall 700, Monroe Street, Huntsville, Alabama Description: The 8th Annual National Cyber Security Summit was held June 7th – 9th at the Von Braun Center in Huntsville, Alabama. This year’s summit was especially successful with over 1500 attendees not including exhibitors and sponsors. This number represents an over 50% increase from last year’s Summit!

OWASP Montgomery Local Chapter

Cyber Security Event Title: OWASP Montgomery Local Chapter Address: Auburn Montgomery School of Business Description: Many of our cybersecurity listings on events in the USA have OWASP events. For those that don’t know OWASP here’s there own summary. With reference to Birmingham, Alabama, it seems that these OWASP meetings have been taking place in the past but we are not completely positive if they are still active but please do let us know and we will update this page in due course. If you are serious about cybersecurity then we’d certainly encourage you to join cybersecurity organizations like the OWASP Foundation and BSides.

North Alabama ISSA Brimingham

Cyber Security Event Title: North Alabama ISSA Brimingham, Alabama Address: Birmingham, Alabama Description: The Brimingham ISSA chapter has been in existence since 2003 so the members are mostly all veterans. Because of the duration of this particular ISSA chapter we’d absolutely recommend that you join, not least because of the depth of experience you will benefit from with regards to career-networking; especially if you live and work in Cybersecurity in Birmingham. ISSA, like BSides and OWASP are awesome Computer Security organizations. With 140 chapters in 35 countries and nearly 12,000 members, the Information Systems Security Association (abbreviated to ISSA) is the largest international, not-for-profit association specifically for security professionals, in fact even more than ISC2. ISSA members include practitioners at all levels of the security field in a broad range of industries that include networking, communications, education, healthcare, compliance, manufacturing, financial and government. Again, like all the other events listed on this page we’d be very interested to learn more about this ISSA chapter, so if you are one of the organizers get in contact with us and we will happily ammend this page.

Central Alabama ISSA

Cyber Security Event Title: Central Alabama ISSA Address: Birmingham, Alabama Description: Just like its’ sister chapter this ISSA chapter offers excellent networking opportunities. This chapter serves the Birmingham area and the surrounding region. The organizers of the ISSA Central Alabama Chapter Alabama that their group is an association of information security professionals/ cybersecurity practitioners that have a varied depth of experience. This chapter, according to the organizers, like all the other ISSA chapters, provides networking and educational opportunities for its members in an open forum. As a members you’ll be encourage to get involved, ask questions, get answers, and share ideas with peers.

AITP Birmingham Chapter

Cyber Security Event Title: AITP Birmingham Chapter Address: 488 Palisades Boulevard. Birmingham / Homewood, Al 35209 Description: We are not completely certain if these events still take place but we will add this AITP event just in case. The group used to meet every 3rd Tuesday, and you had to have obtained an RSVP. For those that are not familiar with the ATP, they were founded in 1951. In individual chapters and as a national association, AITP seeks to advance the IT Profession through professional development, support of IT education, and national policies on IT that improve society as a whole.

Cyber NOW Conference

Cyber Security Event Title: Alabama Cyber NOW Conference Address: Hyatt Regency Birmingham: 1000 Riverchase Galleria, Hoover, AL 35244 Description: The mission of TechBirmingham is to strengthen and promote the technology ecosystem by promoting tech companies in the region, helping to recruit and retain tech talent and entrepreneurs, and providing opportunities for technical training and education.

Cyber NOW Conference

Cyber Security Event Title: The Air Force Information Technology & Cyberpower Conference Address: Montegomery, Alabama Description: After a 4-year hiatus, what was once a must-attend event for so many IT leaders is returning to Montgomery this August. The Air Force Information Technology & Cyberpower Conference is bringing together Air Force IT experts, prominent IT academics, and America’s best cybersecurity vendors for 3 days of exhibits, speakers, education, and discussion about the ways we can better defend America from cyber-attacks, advanced persistent threats, and proactively lead in this in this increasingly digital world. Foreign governments, hackers, terrorists, decentralized threats, and others have never presented a greater risk to the well being of the United Alabama’s and the cybersecurity of corporations and private individuals. Everything from financial records and personally identifiable information to vital infrastructure and strategic information critical to the safety and security of the U.S. faces a litany of ever-evolving threats.
