Cyber Security Event Title: NEOISF Address: Cleveland, Ohio Description: The Northeast Ohio Information Security Forum is one of Cleveland’s oldest infosec groups, coming up on it’s tenth year. Their meetings are held on the third Wednesday of every month in Independence. The members of this group have very diverse backgrounds, and are generally more experienced than members of other local groups. As such, the topics covered at these meetings tend to lean more technical.
Cyber Security Event Title: NEO ISACA Address: Cleveland, Ohio Description: The Northeast Ohio ISACA chapter meets monthly at Harry’s Steakhouse in Independence. These meetings are more formal than any other group on this list, and the talks are generally more centered around risk, compliance, and governance than general infosec. Cyber Security Event Title: OWASP Cleveland Address: Cleveland, Ohio Description: The Cleveland OWASP chapter meets quarterly, but not on a set date. Be sure to check the wiki page and sign up for the newsletter for up-to-date details. The meetings feature one talk focused 100% on application security.
Cyber Security Event Title: NOC Infragard Address: Cleveland, Ohio Description: The Northern Ohio Chapter of Infragard follows the mission of its parent organization: to promote ongoing dialogue and timely communication between the organization’s members and the FBI. The meetings are held quarterly, but be sure to check the page linked above for up-to-date location and time information. These meetings are free and open to the public, although they do require registration. InfraGard is a Federal Bureau of Investigation program that began in the Cleveland Field Office in 1996. It was a local effort to gain support from the information technology industry and academia for the FBI’s investigative efforts in the cyber arena. The program expanded to other FBI Field Offices, and in 1998, the FBI assigned national program responsiblity for InfraGard to the former National Infrastructure Protection Center and to the Cyber Division in 2003. InfraGard and the FBI have developed a relationship of trust and credibility in the exchange of informaton concerning various terrorism, intelligence, criminal and security matters.
Cyber Security Event Title: BSides Cleveland Address: 2785 Euclid Heights Blvd, Cleveland Heights, Ohio Description: B-Sides Cleveland is a grassroots initiative dedicated to producing a cutting-edge, pop-up IT security conference for InfoSec enthusiasts in the Greater Cleveland, Ohio area and beyond. Each BSides is a community-driven framework for building events for and by information security community members. The goal is to expand the spectrum of conversation beyond the traditional confines of space and time. It creates opportunities for individuals to both present and participate in an intimate atmosphere that encourages collaboration. It is an intense event with discussions, demos, and interaction from participants. It is where conversations for the next-big-thing are happening.
Cyber Security Event Title: 2016 Cybersecurity and Privacy Protection Conference Address: Cleveland, Ohio Description: The Center for Cybersecurity and Privacy Protection 2016 Conference will uniter experienced government officials, in-house counsels, business executives, cyber insurance leaders, litigators, information security officers and privacy managers to discuss current developments and best practices in cybersecurity and privacy protection. The conference is aimed at identifying innovative strategies that integrate legal, managerial and technical approaches to managing cyber and privacy risks.
Cyber Security Event Title: 14th Annual Information Security Summit Address: Cleveland, Ohio Description: The 14th Annual Information Security Summit will cap off SSW-2016 and will be held at LaCentre Conference Center. Last year we attracted over 1,000 participants to the first Security Summit Week.
