Its aim is to sponsor local educational seminars and workshops, conduct regular chapter meetings, facilitate professional networking and help to further promote and elevate the visibility of the IS audit, control and security profession throughout the Pittsburgh region. ISACA is a world wide association of IS governance professionals. The association currently focuses on assurance, security, and governance and provides globally recognised certification in assurance (Certified Information Systems Auditor), security (Certified Information Security Manager), and governance (Certified in the Governance of Enterprise IT).

Affiliated with the FBI and dedicated to harnessing the best talent in cyber security, the Pittsburgh chapter doesn’t have any events on the horizon for now. InfraGard is a Federal Bureau of Investigation program dedicated to promoting information sharing and dialog between the public and private sectors concerning critical infrastructure protection issues. InfraGard Pittsburgh is a cooperative effort of the FBI Pittsburgh Division and the InfraGard Pittsburgh Members Alliance, a non-profit organization committed to the mission of the InfraGard program.

The mission of the Association of Information Technology Professionals (AITP) is to provide all members with the opportunity for growth in their careers and community involvement by providing programs and activities to achieve their goals. As the industry has evolved, so has the association. Starting as the NMAA, evolving into the DPMA, and then into our current evolution in 1996 of the ASSOCIATION of INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY PROFESSIONALS (AITP), the association has kept pace with the changing needs and interests of our members. AITP members span every level of the IT industry from mainframe systems, to micro systems, to PC based LAN and WAN systems, to virtual systems and the internet. AITP has special niches created that cater to the special interests of our members. Our members are found in every facet of society as well. They’re in colleges and universities; banking; industry; retail; the armed forces; local, Pennsylvania and federal governments; hospitals; and beyond.

Its membership is open to everyone but typically comprises inventors, engineers, scientists, programmers, hobbyists, artists, roboteers, families, entrepreneurs, and arts and crafts enthusiasts. Our focus is on collaboration, education, and community outreach. We’re a benevolent group and do not promote or condone illegal activities. The term “hacking” is used in a benign sense, in the context of deconstructing and understanding objects and systems and re-purposing existing materials for new and innovative uses.
