The PCI Security Standards Council (PCI SSC) is an international organization dedicated to delivering data protection and security standards, including the globally approved Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS). The Council supports a wide range of events to raise awareness of the importance of data security.
The annual North America Community Meeting, which is usually held in September, is one of the Council’s major activities. This event comprises of a few days of great information, including keynote talks from industry luminaries, panel discussions, and workshops. Executive speakers at the 2019 event included Target’s Dr. Mark Olson, The Hershey Company’s Edithann Galgano, VP of Global Risk and Security, and Steve Elefant, AIG’s CIO and head of CyberEdge Services. The discussion spanned from new encryption and authentication methods to the need for improved collaboration and transparency within the sector.
The Council also sponsors the PCI Community Meetings in Europe and Asia Pacific, which are held in October and November, respectively. These sessions involve talks and presentations on the most recent advancements in the subject of data security, as well as good networking opportunities with peers. Mandy Galante of Goldman Sachs and Jenny Radcliffe of The Human Factor were among the speakers at the 2019 European meeting. Participants at the Asia Pacific summit heard from industry pioneers such as Mastercard’s Tetsuya Kobayashi and security experts such as LMG Security’s Sherri Davidoff.
The Council’s conferences also include the PCI Security Standards Virtual Summit, which is normally held in March each year. This virtual event brings together data security professionals, industry experts, and senior executives to discuss the most recent trends and techniques in data protection. The 2019 event featured notable speakers such as Gemalto CEO* Philippe Aveneau, PayPal CISO Michael Daly, and IBM Security Director Rob Thomas.
Finally, the PCI SSC provides specific training sessions. These events give learners a hands-on, thorough grasp of PCI DSS compliance standards. The majority of seminars are hosted in the PCI SSC Global Education Centre in Wakefield, MA, however, other workshops may be scheduled and held around the United States and Europe.
The PCI Security Standards Council offers a wide selection of events to help professionals stay current in their area while lobbying for better customer data safety and security.
