Event Description
Cyber First Kenya 2026 is set to become East Africa’s leading cybersecurity summit, convening C-level executives, technology leaders, and policymakers in Nairobi on 8 July 2026. As the inaugural edition of this regional series, the event aims to address the evolving cybersecurity landscape in Kenya and the broader East African region.
Kenya’s Digital Growth and Rising Cyber Threats
Kenya has established itself as a digital powerhouse within Africa, driving innovation and technological advancement. However, this rapid digital expansion has also increased the nation’s vulnerability to cyber threats. In the final quarter of 2025 alone, over 4.5 billion cyber threats were detected, representing a staggering 441% year-on-year increase. The financial impact has been significant, with KES 29.9 billion lost to cybercrime during this period.
Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks have surged by 112% year-on-year, positioning Kenya as the third most targeted country on the continent. Despite strong strategic intent, a 96% talent gap in cybersecurity continues to hinder the effective implementation of security measures, leaving organizations exposed to increasingly sophisticated threats.
Summit Focus: Addressing Critical Cybersecurity Challenges
The summit is designed to tackle these pressing challenges through six practitioner-led tracks. These tracks will cover:
- National critical infrastructure protection
- Regulatory governance and data privacy under the Computer Misuse and Cybercrimes Act
- Zero Trust and cloud security
- AI-powered threat intelligence
- Talent development
- Cross-border geopolitical intelligence sharing
Each track will provide actionable insights and strategies to strengthen Kenya’s cybersecurity posture and foster regional collaboration.
Programme Highlights and Recognition
The full-day programme will feature keynote presentations, panel discussions, fireside chats, and an enterprise case study. A highlight of the event is the inaugural Cyber First Awards East Africa, which will recognize excellence across six categories, including cybersecurity innovation, public sector achievement, and Zero Trust leadership. These awards aim to celebrate organizations and individuals making significant contributions to the advancement of cybersecurity in the region.
Cyber First Kenya 2026 is poised to set new standards for cybersecurity dialogue and collaboration in East Africa, providing a vital platform for knowledge sharing, networking, and recognition of industry excellence.
