Conference Description

The NOTIONES Project, officially titled “Interacting Network of Intelligence and Security Practitioners with Industry and Academia Actors,” stands as a prominent initiative under the Horizon 2020 Coordination and Support Action, funded by the European Commission. Running from 2021 to 2026, this project has focused on building a robust network that brings together security and intelligence practitioners from EU Member States and associated countries. As the project nears its completion, the fifth and final NOTIONES conference is poised to highlight the project’s accomplishments and promote continued collaboration among essential stakeholders.

Building a Collaborative Security and Intelligence Network

The primary objective of the NOTIONES Project has been to address the evolving needs of security and intelligence services. By linking practitioners with partners in research, innovation, and industry, the project has cultivated a collaborative atmosphere. The network includes professionals from military, civil, financial, judiciary, and police sectors, operating at various levels—local, national, and international. This extensive engagement ensures that participants remain engaged with advanced research and innovation in the security field.

Throughout its duration, NOTIONES has organized numerous conferences and collaborative events. These gatherings have been instrumental in facilitating the exchange of best practices and technical knowledge. Such initiatives have enabled practitioners to adapt to rapid technological changes and incorporate new solutions into their operational strategies. The project has thus played a significant role in enhancing the security and resilience of societies across Europe.

Highlights of the Final NOTIONES Conference

The final NOTIONES conference serves as a central venue for presenting innovative research, practical case studies, and technical demonstrations from across the network. The event is structured to encourage the sharing of best practices and to reinforce cooperation among security practitioners, academic researchers, and industry leaders. Attendees have the opportunity to present ongoing research, share practitioner experiences, and discuss analyses of emerging technologies and governance trends within the security sector.

Alongside contributions from the NOTIONES network, the conference features perspectives from other European Union projects in the security and intelligence domain. This collaborative approach broadens the collective knowledge base and fosters cross-project partnerships, ensuring that participants are exposed to the latest advancements and strategies for enhancing security practices.

Engagement and Contribution Opportunities

The NOTIONES conference actively invites original research papers, case studies, and best practice presentations that demonstrate collaboration between academia, industry, and law enforcement agencies (LEAs). Areas of particular interest include:

  • Development of new technologies to strengthen the capabilities of LEAs
  • Innovative education and training programs for law enforcement professionals
  • Application of novel technologies in support of law enforcement operations

By welcoming a diverse range of contributions, the conference aims to stimulate a dynamic exchange of ideas and support the ongoing advancement of security and intelligence practices throughout Europe. The event underscores the importance of sustained collaboration and knowledge sharing among all stakeholders involved in the security sector.
