About JDD 2026

JDD 2026 is a software engineering conference rooted in the Java and JVM ecosystem, held at Hotel Metropolo in Kraków, Poland. Now in its twentieth year, the event brings together approximately 600 engineers for two days of technical sessions, workshops and community-driven content. The conference runs eight parallel tracks covering Core, Architecture, Reliability and JUGmajster, among others.

The programme committee includes practitioners such as Andrzej Grzesik, Sławek Sobótka, Grzegorz Piwowarek and Jarek Pałka, who review submissions and maintain the technical focus on production systems rather than theoretical concepts.

Technical Programme

The keynote by Kevlin Henney opens the conference with a session on abstraction in software engineering. Technical sessions span JVM languages including Java, Kotlin and Scala, alongside frameworks such as Spring, Quarkus and Micronaut.

Confirmed sessions include Victor Rentea on code review in agentic engineering, Michał Furdyna on probabilistic data structures handling a million events per second, and Christian Heitzmann visualising the Java Concurrency API. Akihiro Nishikawa presents on post-quantum cryptography migration for Java applications, while Geertjan Wielenga demonstrates adding Temporal workflows to Spring applications.

Architecture and distributed systems sessions cover topics such as distributed locking in Spring applications, event-driven design with Event Storming and agents, and the challenges of uncertainty in distributed systems. Reliability-focused talks address business reliability engineering, observability practices and testing concurrent code.

AI-Augmented Engineering

JDD 2026 dedicates a track to AI as a practical engineering tool rather than speculative technology. Sessions examine AI-assisted coding, testing integration, CI/CD pipelines and backend integrations. Paolo Brunasti addresses how AI impacts engineering teams when testing legacy systems, while Artur Sobczyk explores moving from AI-supported exploration to reliable production software.

Security and Compliance

Security sessions focus on secure-by-design Java development, supply chain security, identity and access management, and compliance built into engineering workflows. Marcin Łapaj presents on authorization and dependency vulnerabilities, while Bartek Banachowicz examines passwordless authentication challenges. A session on space technology security by Maciej Glugla and Olaf Szafrański extends the security discussion beyond traditional enterprise contexts.

Community and JUGmajster

The JUGmajster track provides a dedicated stage for Java User Groups from across Poland and Central and Eastern Europe. Participating groups include JUGs from Kraków, Warsaw, Poznań, Wrocław, Tricity, Bydgoszcz, Kielce, Lublin, Szczecin, Toruń, Silesia and Zielona Góra. This track features community-driven sessions on topics such as Strings in Java and modern Java coding practices.

Who Should Attend

JDD targets mid to senior Java developers, JVM engineers, backend developers, tech leads, software architects, platform engineers and technical engineering managers. The conference is designed for practitioners who build or maintain complex, scalable systems and want to make informed long-term technical decisions. Student tickets are available for attendees under 26 with valid student identification.

Partners

RTB House serves as Platinum Partner, with UBS as Gold Partner and Alior Bank as Partner. Over 30 technology partners support the event, alongside 16 community partners including Java User Groups and organisations such as IT Girls Foundation and Forum STEM.
