Additionally, the Tennessee Information Security Summit is a two-day cybersecurity event focusing on technical security topics. Other notable conferences in the area are the Tennessee Information Systems Security Conference (TMISC) and the Infosec South Tennessee Conference.
Tennessee houses a vibrant online community of cybersecurity professionals, with many online and virtual events occurring throughout the year. The Tennessee Cybersecurity Community is a non-profit organization whose mission is to provide educational and networking resources to the state’s security professionals. It annually hosts the TNCC SecurityCon, a cybersecurity symposium and job fair, as well as regular online seminars, hackathons, and boot camps. Additionally, the state hosts a weekly meetup group of cybersecurity professionals from all walks of life.
Tennessee is making significant efforts toward enhancing its cybersecurity infrastructure. The state’s Cybersecurity Program provides resources and training from top-tier experts and local industry partners.
Specifically, the Tennessee Educational Technology Association (TETA) offers cybersecurity certifications, including the Certified Information Security Manager (CISM) and Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP).
The Tennessee Office of Information Security currently provides security guidelines for statewide IT frameworks, with the goals of responding to threats and exposures, and ensuring that the statewide information remains secure and available. According to the Office of Governor Bill Haslam, Tennessee is committed to creating an environment that “facilitates the creation and growth of cybersecurity businesses, encourages collaboration and investments, and educates citizens and businesses on the importance of data safety”.

The Music City Center in downtown Nashville will host the InfoSec Nashville Conference 2024 on Wednesday and Thursday, September 11th and 12th, organized by ISSA Middle Tennessee. The conference will be held for the 23rd time this year! We are extending the conference to two days. A Capture the Flag Competition oriented toward security practitioners of all levels and Attendee Workshops focused on various Information Security topics will take place Wednesday Afternoon, with our traditional full-day conference on Thursday.
